Do you have a strong, successful track record in education?

We are looking for a Senior Education Adviser to join our school improvement team. This is a key role in the Council’s school improvement service and offers an exciting opportunity to work with schools and settings across North Yorkshire, from towns and rural communities to schools on the coast. You will work with a wide variety of schools and settings including Local Authority maintained schools and academies.

The post holder will support North Yorkshire Council’s school improvement strategy, which contributes significantly to the self-improving school system locally and centres on raising achievement, promoting inclusion and diminishing differences between vulnerable groups.  You will have substantial experience as a serving school or system leader and a successful track record in delivering strong and sustained school improvement. Experience of leading in a secondary context is desirable.

You will have the knowledge, skills, experience and credibility to:

·          influence, inspire and support others so that all children and young people can achieve their best

·          build on the success of early years settings and schools in North Yorkshire

·          challenge underperformance where it exists, and secure plans for improvement

·          develop collaboration and partnerships between settings, schools, stakeholders and system partners

If you are interested in this post and would like to become a part of an authority with a strong track record and a relentless focus on delivery and performance, we would welcome your application. If appointed, you will work in partnership with headteachers, school leaders, advisers from North Yorkshire’s school improvement service and colleagues from across the Council’s wider Children and Young People’s Service directorate. The work is fast paced, varied and hugely rewarding.

We understand the importance of workforce development and as such, you will be supported through regular continuing professional development opportunities to ensure you are well equipped with the knowledge and skills to build positive professional relationships with different stakeholders and to provide effective monitoring, challenge and support to schools and settings that results in positive outcomes for children and young people.

As a council we are committed to encouraging flexible working for our employees, including the use of modern technologies to support agile ways of working where appropriate.
