Wakefield Council’s Special Educational Needs Assessment and Review Team (SENART) is seeking to appoint a Special Educational Needs Casework Officer on a 12-month temporary contract. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated and experienced team, delivering statutory responsibilities for children and young people with Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plans.

 

About the Role:

As a Casework Officer, you will be responsible for the implementation and management of statutory SEN processes and outcomes, in line with legislative requirements including the Children and Families Act 2014 and SEND Code of Practice 2015.

You will manage a large and complex caseload of children and young people with EHC Plans, ensuring timely and high-quality responses to parents, schools, and partner agencies. Key responsibilities include:

Producing and amending EHC Plans based on multi-agency input

Coordinating and attending statutory review meetings

Supporting the co-production of plans with families and professionals

Offering statutory advice and training to schools and parents

About You:

We are looking for someone who:

Has strong knowledge of SEN legislation and statutory duties

Can handle a varied workload under pressure with a calm and focused approach

Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Is committed to delivering high standards of customer service

Has a flexible, proactive attitude and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment

Experience with Post-16 Preparation for Adulthood would be advantageous
